Court sentenced Habiba Al-Shamaa accused killer to 15 years Hard Labor plus a fine of 50 thousand pounds fine

EgyptDailyNews - The Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced today the Uber driver, accused of killing Habiba Al-Shamaa, to 15 years of hard labor and a fine of 50,000 pounds.

The Court had heard the Prosecution in the case of Habiba Al-Shamaa, where he said that the accused "was a criminal whose dreams were lost and his insight was blinded. He did not see light except darkness, ease except hardship, and good except evil. So what will become of you, a criminal, after you have committed your crime?"

The Prosecutor continued: "The spirit of Habiba Al-Shamaa will haunt you everywhere, the shape of her face will haunt you while she is in her last moments, her fear and panic will surround you when she threw her body in the streets, so know that the scale of the All-Knowing (God) does not leave an atom’s weight without monitoring it."

The Prosecutor had ordered the referral of the accused of attempting to kidnap the victim, Habiba Al-Shamaa, to the criminal court, on charges of attempting to kidnap her, possession of narcotic Hashish, and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of that drug.

The Prosecutor when asking the first person who saw the victim, who was trying to help her after she threw herself from the accused’s car, he confirmed that she mentioned to him that the accused wanted to kidnap her, and also texted: “Uber wanted to kidnap me”.

Additionally the legal representative of “Uber” company has testified that the accused had previously had his account closed through the company’s application, due to the large number of complaints from the application’s users against him.

However, he created another account by using another national ID number through which he was able to reuse the application. The Prosecution investigated and proved this forgery incident. It also reviewed the complaints submitted against the accused with Uber, and found that one of them was from a woman who said that he physically harassed her.

Investigations have proved that the driver was under the influence of Hashish (a narcotic) and that he closed the windows of the car, then sprayed something which made Habiba panic and jump from the car. May she Rest In Peace.
