Egypt increases healthcare budget by 25% and education budget by 45% in next fiscal year

EgyptDailyNews - Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said that the government will increase spending on the health sector by about 25% and the education sector by 45% in the budget for the next fiscal year.

Maait said in a statement that the state will focus on human development during the next six years, starting from the new fiscal year 2024-2025, through a commitment to enhance spending on health, comprehensive health insurance, and developing education, “even though it bears many of the effects of global and regional crises.” .

He added that allocations for the health sector will be raised to 495.6 billion pounds in the next fiscal year’s budget, compared to 396.9 billion in the current fiscal year, with a growth rate of 24.9%, and allocations for the education sector will be raised to 858.3 billion pounds, compared to 591 billion during the current fiscal year, with a growth rate of 45%. He continued: “Allocations for scientific research will also be increased to more than 139.5 billion pounds from 99.6 billion, with a growth rate of 40.1%.” The minister continued, saying, "We will continue to work to allocate more resources to spend on health and education during the implementation of the upcoming budgets to develop all elements of the health and education systems."
