Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that President El-Sisi offered his condolences to the Kenyan President for the victims of the recent landslide that struck an area in Kenya. The President affirmed Egypt’s solidarity with the victims’ families and the Kenyan people.

During their call, the two Presidents underscored the profound relations between the two countries, particularly following the momentum sparked by President Ruto’s visit to Cairo in January 2025. They stressed the necessity to further strengthen cooperation in various fields within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, including the participation of Egyptian companies in the implementation of development projects in Kenya.

The Kenyan President expressed his profound appreciation for Egypt’s support to his country. He affirmed his keenness on maintaining constant coordination and communication with President El-Sisi to strengthen bilateral cooperation and within the framework of the political consultation and exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest.

The call also touched on a number of regional issues. President El-Sisi highlighted the connection between the situation in Sudan and Egypt’s national security. The President stressed the crucial importance of preserving Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, affirming Egypt’s support for Sudan’s national state institutions. The President emphasized the importance of stopping the humanitarian tragedy endured by the Sudanese people, particularly in Al-Fashir city and its vicinity and highlighted Egypt’s efforts to achieve de-escalation in Sudan within the framework of the Quadrilateral mechanism.

The Kenyan President expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to end the crisis in Sudan. He said that he is looking forward to coordinating with Egypt in this framework.

The two Presidents also reviewed the Nile waters issue. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s supportive stance for development efforts and projects in the Nile Basin countries. The President also underscored Egypt’s absolute rejection of harming its water interests and the unilateral measures taken by Ethiopia.

For his part, President Ruto stressed his country’s commitment to boosting cooperation and economic integration among the Nile Basin countries and avoiding harm to the interests of any state. He expressed his appreciation for the support Egypt provides to Kenya in various development fields.

The two sides also discussed the situations in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region. President El-Sisi and President Ruto agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve stability, security, and peace in the region, while preserving the unity and sovereignty of Somalia and safeguarding its people’s resources.
