Egypt Daily News – The National Tunnels Authority published the latest pictures of the implementation work of the West Nile Monorail Project – 6th of October, which show the progress of the project’s implementation rates.
The West Nile Monorail extends from the New October Station in 6th of October City to the Nile Valley Station in Giza. It is 43.8 km long and includes 13 stations, and is implemented by a consortium of companies (Alstom – Orascom – Arab Contractors).
The total length of the two monorail projects (East/West Nile) is 100 km, with 35 stations, and the capacity of each monorail line is 600,000 passengers per day.
The monorail train consists of 4 cars, and it is planned to increase the number of cars to 8 cars with the increase in population density in the new urban areas it serves.
The monorail train runs without a driver, which requires efficiency from the equipment installed, such as surveillance cameras and the control room located in the New Administrative Capital. Egypt has also received all the mobile units scheduled to operate on the East Nile Monorail line – the Administrative Capital.
