Egypt Daily News – The southern part of New Valley Governorate in Egypt has recently experienced significant flooding due to heavy rainfall that persisted for five consecutive days.

This rainfall has severely affected parts of the East Owainat-Abu Simbel road, prompting executive authorities in the area to escalate preparedness measures in order to manage the influx of rainwater and facilitate the reopening of the road.

Major General Muhammad Al-Zamlot, the Governor of New Valley, announced heightened readiness across all service facilities in anticipation of any emergencies stemming from the recent weather conditions impacting the southern region of the governorate.

In addition, the Aswan Governorate has also been impacted by these floods. Major General Ismail Kamal, the Governor of Aswan, reported that an operations room has been established to address the consequences of the rainfall and flooding on the Aswan-Abu Simbel tourist road, as well as the eastern Qastal road located along the Egyptian-Sudanese border. Local units have deployed equipment and loaders to carry out necessary interventions in the cities of Aswan and Abu Simbel.

Efforts have been made to improve road conditions and stabilize bridges by laying clay soil, which has helped ensure the safe passage of vehicles.

Governor Kamal indicated that coordination has been established with the General Authority for Roads and Bridges to utilize available resources for restoring these roads to their original conditions.

This initiative aims to facilitate the movement of all types of vehicles, including trucks, buses, and cars, ensuring efficient transportation in the region.
