Egypt Daily News – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed for the first time that Ukrainian forces are conducting cross-border attacks into Russia’s western Kursk region.

In a video address on Saturday evening, he stated that the Ukrainian military is proactively extending its operations into “the territory of the aggressor.”

This announcement follows a Ukrainian offensive that began on Tuesday, during which troops reportedly advanced over 20 kilometers (12 miles) into Russian territory—marking the furthest incursion since the initiation of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

In his remarks, President Zelensky expressed gratitude to the “warriors” of Ukraine and mentioned that he had conferred with the country’s supreme military commander, Oleksandr Sersky, regarding the strategy for breaching the Russian border.
