Egypt Daily News – The recent comments from Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Mikhail Podlyak highlight Ukraine’s stance on allegations relating to the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

Podlyak firmly stated that Ukraine lacks the necessary technical and financial resources to have carried out the reported sabotage.

This counters earlier claims reported by the Wall Street Journal, which suggested that plans for such actions had been approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but were later retracted at the request of the CIA.

Moreover, the Wall Street Journal noted conflicts within the Ukrainian military leadership regarding the operation, with former military commander Valery Zaluzhny alleged to have ignored the cancellation order. However, Zaluzhny has since distanced himself from any involvement in the Nord Stream events.

The investigation into the sabotage has expanded to involve German authorities, as highlighted by reports in the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

They outlined that German prosecutors had issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian diving instructor believed to be involved, along with two other instructors.

This investigation includes potential links to a yacht named Andromeda, which is suspected of being used to transport explosives to the pipelines.

This series of developments indicates both internal and external complexities surrounding the issue, reflecting broader geopolitical tensions and the intricacies of intelligence and military operations in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
