Egypt Daily News – Recent developments in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia highlight contrasting narratives from both sides regarding military advancements and losses.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed significant losses inflicted on Ukrainian forces in Kursk Province, asserting that more than 3,460 Ukrainian soldiers and numerous military assets, including tanks and armored vehicles, have been destroyed since Ukraine’s incursion into Russian territory.

According to their statements, the losses reported by Russia include:

  • Over 3,460 soldiers
  • 50 tanks
  • 25 infantry fighting vehicles
  • 45 armored personnel carriers
  • 262 armored combat vehicles
  • Additionally, Ukrainian forces reportedly lost 115 vehicles, 5 air defense systems, 7 multiple rocket launch systems (including 3 HIMARS), 25 field guns, 4 electronic warfare stations, and 4 pieces of engineering equipment.

The Russian Ministry emphasized that their operations aimed at dismantling Ukrainian military capabilities are ongoing.

Conversely, Ukrainian forces reportedly continue to make progress in the region, particularly in the Kursk Province, which has led to divergent views on the situation.

The capture of soldiers from both sides has also been noted, with both parties alleging that they have taken prisoners during the skirmishes, and social media has seen the circulation of footage from these operations.

In Donetsk, Russian forces have claimed rapid advancements, especially around the Pokrovsk axis, positioning themselves strategically in relation to key highways that connect to Ukrainian strongholds such as Chasiv Yar and Kostyantynivka.

As the situation develops, the discrepancy in reported outcomes from both sides underscores the complex and dynamic nature of this ongoing conflict.
