Philadelphi Axis

Egypt Daily News – Sources have revealed that Egypt has rejected an Israeli proposal to set up eight watchtowers along the Philadelphi Corridor, as well as a smaller American proposal for two watchtowers.

In response, Israel, Egypt, and the United States are engaging in discussions in Cairo concerning the Philadelphi Axis, the Rafah Crossing, and ongoing truce negotiations.

Sources have also indicated that the primary issues at stake involve the return of the hostages, the specifics of Israeli withdrawal from various areas, the operation of the Rafah crossing, and the nature of prisoners to be released by both sides.

Egypt has taken a firm stance, insisting on the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from both the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphi axis, while also seeking to prevent any future Israeli military presence in these regions.

Moreover, a joint statement issued by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States emphasized the urgent need to resolve the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

The leaders of the three nations highlighted the importance of addressing the prolonged suffering of the Gazan people and the families of prisoners.

They called for an immediate ceasefire and a finalization of an agreement regarding the release of detainees, noting that a framework for such an agreement has been developed over several months, with only implementation details remaining to be finalized.
