In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration on Monday, August 25, the Arab Republic of Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the statements issued by the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir regarding planning of building a Jewish synagogue inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Arab Republic of Egypt held Israel legally responsible for adhering to the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and not violating Islamic and Christian sanctities, demanding that it comply with its obligations as an occupying power, and stop provocative statements aimed at further escalation and tension in the region.
Egypt stressed that these irresponsible statements against the Islamic and Christian sanctities in the Palestinian territories make the situation in the Palestinian territories more complex and tense, hinder efforts made to reach calm and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and constitute a great danger to the future of the final settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
