Egypt in plans to purchase 18 Tejas Mk1A fighter jets from India

Egypt Daily News – Egypt’s plans to purchase advanced Indian fighter jets, specifically the Tejas Mk1A models. Reports indicate that an Egyptian delegation recently visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to discuss a potential acquisition of approximately 18 Tejas fighters, as well as the establishment of a maintenance, research, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Egypt.

In addition to the fighter jets, discussions are also underway for the supply of “Druv Mk 3” light helicopters, which would serve various purposes including transport, medical evacuation, and reconnaissance missions.

This move comes as the Egyptian Air Force seeks to enhance its capabilities and replace outdated aircraft, reflecting a broader trend of military modernization in Egypt. The introduction of new advanced aircraft to the Egyptian Air Force could shift the balance to Egypt’s favor.
