Egypt Daily News – Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, advisor to the President for Health and Prevention Affairs, confirmed that the cases of gastroenteritis in Aswan, which included symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue, are caused by a single microbe or bacterium.

He stated during television remarks on the program “Al-Khalasah,” broadcast on “Al-Mahwar” channel on Tuesday evening, that the severity of the illness varies from case to case, explaining that some cases are mild or moderate, while they are severe for those with chronic diseases.

He pointed out that “most cases responded completely to treatment,” expressing gratitude to the health institutions, whether the hospitals affiliated with the Health Care Authority or Aswan University, for their significant efforts and state of readiness to provide all types of health care.

He added that “the situation in Aswan has reached a stage of stability, and the number of cases has started to decline,” emphasizing that drinking water in all areas of Aswan is safe, noting that gastrointestinal infections occur due to contamination of liquids or food.

He explained that the total number of infections reached 214 cases, noting that there were 5 deaths that occurred due to chronic diseases, and it cannot be confirmed that they are directly related to gastroenteritis.

He confirmed that “all remaining cases responded completely to the treatment,” which includes solutions and anti-diarrheal medications, as well as support for the circulatory system, in addition to the treatment of chronic diseases.
