Egypt Daily News – In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq expressed deep concern that Israel is “pushing the region towards a full-scale war.”

This warning comes amid Israel’s ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip and increased airstrikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

During their meeting at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the ministers highlighted the “serious escalation currently taking place in the region.” They stressed that addressing this escalation must start with an immediate halt to what they described as Israeli aggression in Gaza.

The statement condemned Israel’s actions in Lebanon and underscored the potential for a broader conflict if the situation is not addressed.

It called on Israel to adhere to international law, including the four Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, to ensure the protection of civilians from the impacts of the ongoing military actions.

The foreign ministers convened as part of a trilateral cooperation mechanism, laying the groundwork for an upcoming summit at the leadership level in Cairo.
