Egypt Daily News – The Lebanese “Hezbollah” has just mourned its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who Israel announced was assassinated in an airstrike that targeted the party’s headquarters yesterday, Friday, in the southern suburb of Beirut.
Hezbollah stated in its statement: “His Eminence, the Master of Resistance, the righteous servant, has passed away to be with his Lord and His pleasure, a great martyr, a courageous and valiant leader, wise and insightful, a believer, joining the caravan of the luminous martyrs of Karbala in the divine, faith-driven journey following the path of the prophets and the martyr imams.”
He added: “His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, has joined his great immortal martyr companions, whom he has led for nearly thirty years, guiding them from victory to victory, succeeding the Master of the Martyrs of the Islamic Resistance in 1992, through the liberation of Lebanon in 2000, to the divine and victorious triumph of 2006, and all the battles of honor and sacrifice, culminating in the battle of support and heroism for Palestine, Gaza, and the oppressed Palestinian people.”
He continued: “We extend our condolences to the Master of the Age and Time (may God hasten his reappearance), the Supreme Leader of Muslims, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, may his shadow endure, the great religious authorities, the fighters and believers, the resistance community, our patient and striving Lebanese people, the entire Islamic nation, and all the free and oppressed people in the world, as well as to his noble and patient family.
We congratulate His Eminence the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, may God be pleased with him, on receiving the highest divine honors, the Medal of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), fulfilling his dearest wishes and attaining the highest ranks of faith and pure belief, as a martyr on the path to Jerusalem and Palestine.
We also extend our condolences and congratulations to his fellow martyrs who joined his pure and sacred procession following the treacherous Zionist attack on the southern suburbs.”
The statement indicated that “the leadership of Hezbollah pledged to the supreme, most sacred, and dearest martyr in our journey filled with sacrifices and martyrs to continue its struggle against the enemy, in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people.”
The party concluded its statement: “To the honorable fighters and the victorious and supported heroes of the Islamic resistance, you are the trust of the martyred leader, and you are his brothers who have been his strong shield and the jewel of heroism and sacrifice. Our leader, His Eminence, is still with us in his thoughts, spirit, plan, and sacred approach, and you are committed to the pledge of loyalty and dedication to resistance and sacrifice until victory.”
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, announced earlier today the “elimination of Hassan Nasrallah, Ali Korki, and several leaders of the party” in an airstrike yesterday, Friday, on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
He pointed out that the Israeli army “will continue to target anyone who promotes and is involved in terrorist activities against the citizens of Israel.”
For years of resistance… Hassan Nasrallah
Nasrallah has led the resistance party for thirty years, transforming it into a regionally influential military force, which proved its presence with the victory in the July 2006 war after a fierce and unequal confrontation that lasted 34 days with Israel.
His upbringing.
Hassan Abdul Karim Nasrallah was born on August 31, 1960, and took over the leadership of the party on February 16, 1992.
Nasrallah, who hails from the town of Bazouria, grew up in the impoverished Karantina neighborhood in Beirut, where his father was forced to flee in search of work to feed his family.
Nasrallah received his religious education at Shiite centers and seminaries in Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran, before joining “Amal Movement” during his secondary studies and gradually becoming a member of the movement’s political office in 1979. He split from “Amal” in 1982 with several officials due to disagreements over how to confront the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

Hassan Nasrallah joined the party in 1982 and rose through its ranks until he reached the position of its Secretary-General in 1992 at the age of thirty-five, following Israel’s assassination of his predecessor Abbas al-Musawi.
Nasrallah led a series of qualitative operations against Israel, which forced it to withdraw from southern Lebanon in 2000, achieving a celebrated Arab victory that manifested in reality through the strength of the resistance’s weapons and the courage of its men.
