Egypt Daily News – The Somali ambassador to Cairo, Ali Abdi Awari, commended Egypt for its recent initiatives to support Somalia, highlighting the arrival of a medical convoy and military equipment in Mogadishu.

The ambassador noted that the medical convoy demonstrates Egypt’s commitment to aiding Somalia across various sectors, particularly healthcare, where the convoy includes specialists in rare fields.

He expressed optimism about future medical convoys aimed at training Somali medical professionals to improve their capabilities.

Awari also praised the strengthening Egyptian-Somali relations, acknowledging the significant support from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s administration in addressing the challenges faced by Somalia.

He mentioned discussions on enhancing cooperation, including training Somali medical staff in Egypt and establishing an Egyptian medical center in Somalia, as well as a pharmacy to provide high-quality Egyptian medicines at competitive prices.

The ambassador indicated that efforts are being made to establish a mechanism for facilitating treatment for Somali patients in Egypt, which would also benefit the medical tourism sector.

Recently, a new ship carrying military aid arrived in Mogadishu, received by the Somali Minister of Defense, Abdulkadir Noor. This shipment is part of Egypt’s broader commitment to bolster the capabilities of the Somali army, fostering security and stability while combating terrorism.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reiterated its dedication to assisting Somalia in developing its national resources and capabilities, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of the Somali people for security, stability, and development.

This support aligns with the military cooperation protocol recently established between the two nations.
