Egypt Daily News – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed retaliation against Hezbollah and “Iran’s allies” following a drone attack on his home in Caesarea on October 19, 2024.

Netanyahu accused these groups of attempting to assassinate him and his wife, claiming that they made a “grave mistake.” He warned that those who threaten the citizens of Israel will face severe consequences.

Following the drone strike, which the Israeli army confirmed, no injuries were reported, and Netanyahu and his wife were not present at home at the time of the attack.

While Hezbollah did not claim responsibility for targeting Netanyahu, they acknowledged launching missile attacks on northern and central Israel.

Concurrently, the Israeli military reported multiple artillery shells fired from Lebanon, but no immediate injuries were recorded.

In response to the drone attack, Israel conducted airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, which houses a dense population and several of the group’s offices.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz stated that the events highlight Iran’s malign influence in the region.

In the wake of the escalating tensions, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed concern over the high civilian casualties arising from Israeli strikes, urging for a de-escalation of violence and a shift towards negotiations to allow civilians from both sides to return to their homes.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated ongoing worries about the potential for regional conflict.
