Egypt Daily News – The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres affirmed today, Thursday, that the world needs just peace on several fronts, especially in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine and Sudan.

Guterres emphasized during an expanded session of the “BRICS Plus and Outreach” summit the necessity of establishing peace in the Gaza Strip through a ceasefire and the release of detainees, as well as the need to assist in achieving the resolution regarding the establishment of the Palestinian and Israeli states.

He emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, and the utmost importance of establishing peace in Sudan, calling on all parties to ceasefire.

The UN Secretary-General noted that the wide participation in the “BRICS” summit confirms that no country can solve international problems and overcome global challenges alone, pointing to the increasing crises and climate issues, the widening gap between the rich and the poor, and other crises that threaten future plans for progress and stability.
