Egypt Daily News – A source in the Kremlin revealed on Sunday, that Bashar al-Assad and his family arrived in Moscow. The source explained that Russia provided asylum to Assad and his family.
Data from the “Flight Radar” website showed that a Syrian Airlines plane, believed to have been boarded by Assad, took off from Damascus airport at a time when opposition factions took control of the capital, while information for the website revealed later on Sunday that a plane took off from Latakia and landed in Moscow.
According to the site, the plane initially took off towards the Syrian coastal region, but suddenly turned around and flew in the opposite direction for a few minutes before disappearing from the map.
Two senior officers in the Syrian army confirmed to Reuters that Assad left Damascus on a plane to an unknown destination. Later, Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali said that the whereabouts of Assad and his defense minister “have been unknown since Saturday night.”
This morning, the Syrian opposition factions announced, in a statement broadcast on Syrian state television, their control of the capital, Damascus, and the end of the rule of Bashar al-Assad.
