Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, will visit Egypt on Thursday to attend the Summit of the Organization of Eight Islamic Countries in Cairo

Egypt Daily News – On Thursday, Cairo will host the D8 summit of the Organization of Eight Islamic Countries for Economic Cooperation in its eleventh edition, which will discuss ways to confront the successive global economic and political changes.

Egypt is chairing the current version of the summit, as it assumed the presidency of the group last May, and will continue to lead its work until the end of next year.

The summit is scheduled to be held at the presidential level, with the heads of the eight member states attending, including Egypt: Turkey, Bangladesh, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

A number of reports indicated the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in addition to the presence of Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of the Lebanese caretaker government.

It is expected that several bilateral summits and meetings will be held on the sidelines of the D8 summit in Cairo, whether at the level of presidents or delegations participating in the conference.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said that President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will go to Egypt to participate in the meeting of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D8) in Cairo.

Baqaei said: The Foreign Minister will head to Cairo, Tuesday evening, to participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

According to him, a meeting of the foreign ministers of eight developing Islamic countries, namely Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Malaysia

and Bangladesh, will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, and a meeting of the heads of this organization will be held the day after tomorrow, Thursday, to put the final touches on the documents for the summit meeting.

He added that the eleventh meeting of the heads of this organization will be held on Thursday, in which President Pezeshkian will participate. Investing in youth and supporting small and medium enterprises continued: Shaping an economy for the future was identified as a main topic for this meeting

He also pointed out the need to exploit every opportunity such as this meeting to raise regional issues and announced that a special meeting is scheduled to be held at the level of the heads of the eight countries to review the situation in Palestine and Lebanon and that it will be held next Thursday evening.
