Egypt Daily News – The Israeli parties Yesh Atid, National Unity, Yisrael Beiteinu, and the Democratic Party sent a warning letter on Monday to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the government’s legal advisor, ahead of filing a petition against Netanyahu’s decision to initiate dismissal procedures for the head of the Shin Bet security agency, Ronen Bar.

The joint letter, reported by Israel’s Channel 7, stated that the decision to begin dismissal procedures is illegal and was made in violation of the law due to a serious conflict of interest on the part of the prime minister.

The Israeli opposition parties argued that the decision was influenced by external considerations, including Shin Bet’s investigation into staff members from the Prime Minister’s Office.

They also pointed out that Netanyahu’s statement indicates the decision was made without any concrete or clear factual basis to justify such a bold and controversial move.

The Israeli opposition parties further emphasized that this represents a clear abuse of governmental power and that the motives behind the decision are improper, invalid, and contradict the legal principles governing Shin Bet’s operations.

The letter concluded by stating: “As long as the dismissal procedures continue and a government decision is put forward to implement the prime minister’s directive, the factions will file a petition with the Supreme Court.”
