Ahmed Kamel – Egypt Daily News
Egyptian television host Ahmed Moussa has come under fire from Israeli media after making explosive claims linking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Muslim Brotherhood. The veteran broadcaster, responded defiantly to the criticism, accusing Israel of attempting to silence voices that expose its regional alliances and actions in Gaza.
In a post on his X account, Moussa addressed the backlash sparked by a recent episode of his political talk show “Ala Mas’ouliyati” on Sada El-Balad TV. During the segment, he stated that Netanyahu was effectively “the current Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood,” claiming the Israeli government and the outlawed Islamist group, the Muslim Brotherhood, are working together against Egypt.
Following the broadcast, Israel’s public broadcaster issued a sharp condemnation, accusing Moussa of promoting “dangerous and misleading conspiracy theories” that incite hatred and obstruct meaningful dialogue in the region. It described the comments as “naïve conspiracies” and warned that such rhetoric deepens division and misinformation around regional politics.
Moussa responded forcefully:
“The Israeli Broadcasting Authority, speaking on behalf of war criminal Netanyahu, attacked me for exposing the documented coordination between the Zionist entity and the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, and their joint efforts targeting Egypt. Their outrage was especially due to my on-air claim that Netanyahu is essentially the Brotherhood’s current leader.”
He added:
“I speak freely on my program, which airs on a privately owned channel. I do not represent the Egyptian government, nor do I receive instructions from it. What I said is based on facts. You, not me, are the source of regional hatred. The global community condemns the massacres carried out by your occupation forces in Gaza 60,000 civilians killed, including 20,000 children, and more than 180,000 wounded over 21 months of war.”
Moussa ended his message with a pointed warning to Israeli leaders:
“Your expansionist ambitions and continued wars will never bring you security. Only peace can offer true stability to this region.”
Growing Media Tensions
The incident reflects mounting tensions in regional discourse, as the war in Gaza continues to draw sharp criticism from across the Arab world. Moussa’s comments have struck a nerve amid growing outrage over Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip, which have led to severe humanitarian consequences.
Israel’s public broadcaster maintained that such statements undermine efforts toward dialogue and peace, stating:
“This type of rhetoric inflames hostilities and promotes false narratives that prevent any constructive engagement.”
A Familiar Voice in Egypt’s Media Landscape
Ahmed Moussa is one of Egypt’s most prominent television figures, known for his outspoken commentary and firm support of the Egyptian state. He has long been critical of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is banned in Egypt and designated a terrorist organization by the government.
This latest exchange adds to the increasingly polarized media environment in the Middle East, where journalists, politicians, and public figures are divided over the region’s future and the role of Israel in it.
Moussa’s statements resonate with many viewers at home who see Israel’s actions in Gaza as unjust and are skeptical of its broader intentions in the region. Whether this controversy leads to further diplomatic friction or remains a media-level dispute remains to be seen.
