Egypt Daily News – In the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly secured their place in the semi-finals after confirming their 1-0 victory over Sudan’s Al Hilal in the second leg of the quarter-finals. With an aggregate score of 2-0, Al Ahly advanced to the semi-finals.
The match saw a near goal from Gradi Shar after a mistake by the Al Hilal goalkeeper in the 8th minute. The Red Devils continued to press but failed to create any significant threats until the 30th minute.
At the start of the second half, coach Marcel Koller made no changes to the team until the 60th minute when he brought on Taher Mohamed. Al Ahly’s goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy then made a crucial save in the 63rd minute, denying Al Hilal a clear scoring opportunity.
Al Hilal continued to pose a threat as they reached the penalty area of Al Ahly, but their attempts remained unsuccessful.
The game’s decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Imam Ashour scored the first and only goal for Al Ahly, securing their spot in the semi-finals. Coach Marcel Koller also announced the lineup for the match against Al Hilal before the game began.
