Egypt Daily News – On Wednesday, Sudanese Army Commander Al-Burhan announced from inside the Presidential Palace that “Khartoum is free.”
Al-Burhan arrived at Khartoum International Airport for the first time since the outbreak of the war with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Sudan Transitional Sovereign Council’s Media Office confirmed in a statement that the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, had arrived by plane at Khartoum Airport.

Several residents of Khartoum reported that the RSF forces had withdrawn from most parts of the Sudanese capital, while the army spread across several neighborhoods.
This morning, the Sudanese army confirmed its control of the Tayba camp, the last RSF base in the capital. Meanwhile, the Commander of Khartoum Operations, Major General Abdel Rahman Al-Bilawi, said that his forces had taken control of Khartoum International Airport, where Al-Burhan landed.
Earlier, the Commander of Khartoum Operations confirmed that the army was advancing in eastern Khartoum. He added that they had crossed the Manshiya Bridge and completely cleared the area to the east of the bridge.
The Sudanese army also stated that it had inflicted “heavy losses in equipment and lives” on the RSF in the Al-Baqir area.
Furthermore, the army announced the advancement of its armored forces in the city of Khartoum and their control of the Air Defense headquarters in Khartoum.
The armored corps reported that it had seized the buildings of the Sudan University of Science and Technology’s Faculty of Engineering, the entire Al-Nuzha neighborhood, Al-Sahafa Street, and the Khartoum dry port.

Sources reported that the Sudanese army had taken control of all bridges in the capital. He also indicated that the army had closed the Khartoum – Jebel Aulia road and seized the Tayba camp south of Khartoum.
Sudanese Army Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General Yasser al-Atta, conducted a tour of the army forces inside the Presidential Palace after regaining control of it for the first time since April 15, 2023.
Following the tour, a senior Sudanese military official briefed the forces on the latest developments in the ongoing fighting, after the Sudanese army strengthened its grip on the capital and regained more key government buildings.
Additionally, the Sudanese army continues its advance in villages in the far north of the Al-Jazeera State, having seized the villages of “Al-Jadeed Al-Thawra” and “Al-Jadeed Omran.”
The army is nearing the announcement of complete control over Al-Jazeera State and its penetration into southern Khartoum. In eastern Khartoum, neighborhood committees in the Berri area confirmed the presence of army forces in several parts of the region.
The army published a map on its official Facebook page showing the extent of its control in Khartoum and the White Nile and South Kordofan states, which appeared to be vast compared to the limited areas controlled by the RSF in the four Darfur states and parts of North and West Kordofan.
Field sources reported widespread withdrawals by RSF forces from neighborhoods in Berri, Arkwit in eastern Khartoum, Al-Azhari, and Al-Sahafa in the southern part of the city.
In a related context, the Sudan Shield Forces, led by Abu Aqila Kikil, supporting the Sudanese army, announced that they had taken control of the Sundus agricultural project south of Jebel Aulia, the main stronghold of the RSF in the far south of Khartoum.
The forces are now just 14 kilometers away from Jebel Aulia, which includes the Jebel Aulia Dam and Bridge, the last bridge in Khartoum still controlled by the RSF.
These developments come just days after the Sudanese army took control of most government buildings and ministries, as well as private institutions in central Khartoum and the Al-Muqarn area, along with regaining control of Tuti Island and the Presidential Palace.
