Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday, Egypt emphasized the importance of avoiding a full-scale regional war amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

During a press conference with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib in Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Badr Abdel Ati reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its people.

Abdel Ati described the regional situation as “complex and extremely dangerous,” calling for heightened efforts to achieve calm in southern Lebanon and urging Israel to engage in necessary arrangements to de-escalate tensions.

He stressed the crucial need for all parties to immediately implement United Nations Resolution 1701.

Regarding the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, Abdel Ati highlighted Egypt’s active mediation to broker a ceasefire and cooperation with regional and international partners to halt the warfare.

He pointed out that the escalating regional tensions largely stem from the Israeli conflict in Gaza and emphasized that achieving a truce there is essential to stop the spread of violence.

During their meeting, the two foreign ministers discussed the implications of the Gaza crisis on Lebanon and reviewed Egypt’s initiatives to maintain stability and safety in the country.

The backdrop of their discussions includes heightened regional tensions following the assassination of prominent figures linked to Hamas and Hezbollah, which has drawn concerns from various international parties about the potential for further escalation in the Middle East.
