At least 40 Palestinians martyred in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on Monday

Egypt Daily News – Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since early Monday have martyred at least 40 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense. The death toll since the resumption of airstrikes over a month ago has reached at least 2,222, based on figures released Monday by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health.

The Civil Defense reported that eight people were killed when a house belonging to the Abu Mahadi family was struck in Jabalia, in northern Gaza. In another strike, eight more people were killed at the al-Agha family’s home in the al-Satar al-Gharbi area of Khan Younis.

Ten Palestinians were killed in an overnight strike on the Ghamari family’s house in the al-Sudaniya area, northwest of Gaza City.

Israeli aircraft also targeted a group of people on al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City, killing nine, according to the Civil Defense. Two others were killed in western Gaza City, in the Abu Mazen roundabout area, and two more died when a tent sheltering displaced people in the al-Shafa’i camp, west of Khan Younis, was hit.

Another person was reported killed in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis.

Abdul Majid Abu Mahadi, who lost his brother in the strike, said: “They were sleeping peacefully in their homes when the rockets hit. Children and women were torn apart.” He added that his 65-year-old brother was killed along with his children, saying, “It’s a horrifying scene.”

The Israeli army has not issued an immediate comment.

The total death toll in Gaza since the war began on October 7, 2023, has now risen to at least 52,314 civilians, according to the Ministry of Health.
