Egypt Daily News – A senior US official familiar with the decision said that President Joe Biden has for the first time authorized the use of powerful US long-range weapons for Ukraine to fire into Russia, while the United States watches with concern the deployment of North Korean forces in support of Russia.

Around 3000 North Korean soldiers are deployed to Kursk as part of the offensive. Biden and his advisers are concerned that the entry of North Korean forces into the conflict could lead to a dangerous new phase in the war.

The decision to authorize the use of the Army’s tactical missile systems, or Atakms, has been under consideration for months. US officials were divided on the wisdom of allowing the new capacity. Some expressed concern about the escalation of the war, while others expressed concern about dwindling weapons stockpiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been pressing Washington to allow the use of weapons inside Russia, arguing that he needs this capability to gain momentum in his war efforts.
