Egypt Daily News – Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement from his personal office on Sunday.

The statement explained that Biden was evaluated last week after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms, leading to the discovery of a prostate nodule. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, classified as a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating one of the most aggressive forms of the disease, with metastasis to the bone. Despite its severity, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for more effective management.

Biden, 82, and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his medical team. A spokesperson had previously confirmed that a small nodule had been found on his prostate during a recent evaluation.

Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, a urologist and robotic surgeon at Orlando Health who is not involved in Biden’s care, noted that prostate cancer is very common, especially as men age. Dr. Benjamin Davies, a professor of urologic oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, emphasized that a Gleason score of 9 reflects the most aggressive form of the disease.

Biden is spending the weekend at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Specialists confirm that while there are treatments available to manage the disease, prostate cancer that has spread to the bones is no longer considered curable.
