Cairo International Airport has recorded its highest daily operational volume of 2025, handling more than 103,000 passengers across 696 arrival and departure flights in a single day, airport authorities announced. The milestone, achieved across the airport’s three passenger terminals, reflects the growing efficiency of Egypt’s aviation infrastructure and its capacity to accommodate rising travel demand.

The record-setting performance comes as part of a broader strategy led by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to enhance operational efficiency and elevate service standards for travelers. It also coincides with intensified preparations for the peak winter travel season associated with Christmas and the upcoming 2026 New Year celebrations, a period traditionally marked by heavy passenger traffic.

Operational indicators from the day showed smooth and orderly movement across all terminals, with travel and arrival procedures proceeding without disruption. Airport officials attributed the seamless flow to coordinated efforts among operational, security, and service teams, underscoring the airport’s readiness to manage high-density traffic during peak periods.

The daily record is part of a wider upward trend in passenger and flight volumes throughout 2025. According to official data, Cairo International Airport handled approximately 30.94 million passengers during the year, representing a 6.8 percent increase compared to 2024, when passenger numbers stood at just under 29 million. The growth highlights Cairo’s expanding role as a regional aviation hub and a key gateway linking Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Aircraft movements also saw a notable rise. The total number of flights in 2025 reached more than 224,000, marking a 4.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. Aviation officials view this sustained growth as evidence of effective operational planning and the long-term stability of the airport’s expansion strategy.

In anticipation of continued demand, Cairo International Airport has raised its alert level across all departure and arrival halls. Flexible operational plans have been implemented to address traffic surges, alongside the reinforcement of staffing levels in critical sectors. These measures aim to accelerate passenger processing while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and operational reliability.

With passenger volumes continuing to climb, airport authorities say the focus remains on balancing growth with service quality, ensuring that Cairo International Airport can meet rising expectations while reinforcing its position as one of the busiest and most resilient airports in the region.
