CAMPAS: Egypt is ranked 22nd out of 67 countries in the 2024 Climate Change Performance Index

Egypt Daily News - The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced that Egypt ranked 22nd out of 67 countries in the 2024 Climate Change Performance Index. At the same time, it ranked 127th out of 180 countries in the 2022 Environmental Performance Index.

CAMPAS indicated that the total water resources available to Egypt amounted to 81.63 billion cubic meters in 2023, with the Nile River water contributing the largest share with an amount of 55.5 billion cubic meters, followed by reused wastewater with an amount of 15.36 billion cubic meters.

Lake Bardawil in North Sinai topped the list of Egyptian lakes in terms of water quality in 2022, as the Oregon Water Quality Index reached 77.3%, and its water quality was classified as good. It also maintained its lead during the previous years (2021, 2020), as the index value exceeded 82%, and its water quality was classified as good, and it is considered one of the purest lakes in the world.

The amount of electrical energy generated from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy witnessed an increase of 3.3% in the year (2021/2022), compared to the previous year (2020/2021).
