Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said Tuesday that the United States Embassy in Riyadh was targeted in a drone attack that caused limited material damage but no reported injuries.

In a statement posted on its official account on X, the ministry said the embassy compound was struck by two drones, according to preliminary assessments. Authorities reported that the incident resulted in a small fire and minor structural damage to the building.

According to Fox News, the embassy was empty at the time of what it described as an Iranian drone attack, and no casualties were recorded.

In a related development, the US Embassy in Riyadh advised American citizens in Saudi Arabia to shelter in place following the incident, according to Reuters.

The attack comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the security of diplomatic facilities across the Middle East. Officials have not yet released further details about the origin of the drones or whether additional defensive measures have been implemented around diplomatic missions in the kingdom.

Saudi and US authorities are expected to continue assessing the damage and reviewing security protocols as investigations into the incident proceed.
