Egypt Daily News – Egypt and Russia sign a memorandum for technical cooperation in the field of tax administration. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Egyptian Tax Authority by Rasha Abdel Aal, the head of the authority, and on behalf of the Federal Tax Service by Daniil Egorov, the head of the Federal Tax Service, on the sidelines of the signing of the BRICS framework agreement for cooperation in tax matters.
This marks the beginning of cooperation between Egypt and Russia in the field of taxation and can extend to other areas as agreed upon by both parties.
Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, stated that in implementation of the Finance Minister’s directives to expand cooperation in the field of tax administration with various countries, this memorandum was signed, adding that this comes in recognition by both parties that technical and professional cooperation in the field of tax administration between the two parties is mutually beneficial.
She explained that according to the memorandum of understanding, there will be cooperation with the Federal Tax Service in the Russian Federation in the field of tax administration regarding how to account for small and medium-sized enterprises, risk assessment, professional development for employees, as well as in other related areas of mutual interest.
She indicated that this cooperation will enable the Egyptian Tax Authority to benefit from Russian expertise in these areas, contributing to improving performance levels and achieving tax revenue more efficiently.
She indicated that cooperation will take place through the exchange of experiences and coordination of work at the international level, participation in organizing seminars, courses, working groups, and business visits related to tax administration in both countries, as well as the implementation of programs, initiatives, and projects of mutual interest to both parties and the transfer of specialized knowledge possessed by one party to the other.
Training will also be provided to the employees of one party by the other, in addition to other areas of mutual interest.
Rasha Abdel Aal added that according to the memorandum of understanding signed with the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation, cooperation can be expanded to include one party providing technical assistance to the other in areas of improving tax administration processes, including organizing and implementing training programs for representatives of both parties on issues related to tax collection methodology and tax administration.
