Egypt and Yemen are moving to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the communications and information technology (ICT) sector, following high-level talks aimed at accelerating digital transformation, infrastructure development, and technical capacity building.

The discussions took place in New Administrative Capital, where Yemen’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Shadi Saleh Basra, met with his Egyptian counterpart, Raafat Hindi.

Focus on Digital Infrastructure and Skills Development

The two sides explored opportunities to expand collaboration across key areas, including digital infrastructure, e-government transformation, and human capital development. The talks reflect a broader push by both Egypt and Yemen to modernize their digital ecosystems and support sustainable economic growth.

A central focus of the discussions was enhancing technical expertise through training programs, skills development initiatives, and the exchange of knowledge between institutions in both countries.

MoU to Formalize Cooperation

Officials agreed to move forward with drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would establish a formal framework for long-term cooperation. The agreement is expected to activate joint programs and facilitate structured collaboration in areas such as digital services and ICT innovation.

Continued Coordination and Technical Exchange

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination through technical visits and expert-level exchanges.

The initiative underscores the strengthening relationship between Egypt and Yemen, highlighting a shared vision to advance digital transformation and build resilient, future-ready ICT sectors.
