Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Olympic football team achieved a significant victory over Spain, winning 2-1 in their final group stage match at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This victory secured their progression to the quarter-finals.

Ibrahim Adel was the standout performer, scoring both goals for Egypt. He opened the scoring in the 40th minute and doubled their lead with another goal in the 62nd minute. Spain managed to pull one back through Samuel Omorodion, who found the net in the 90th minute, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the match.

The Egyptian team’s lineup:

  • Goalkeeper: Hamza Alaa
  • Defense: Ahmed Eid, Omar Fayed, Hossam Abdel Majeed, Karim Al-Dabis
  • Midfield: Ahmed Nabil Koka, Mohamed Elneny, Mohamed Shehata
  • Attack: Ibrahim Adel, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Osama Faisal

With this win, the Egyptian team qualified for the quarter-finals, while Spain also advanced. The team’s successful performance was critical, particularly as they needed at least a draw to guarantee their advancement from the group stage, independent of the result from the match between Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic.
