Egypt Daily News – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty made two phone calls with both Najib Mikati, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, and Mr. Abdullah Bou Habib, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to follow up on the situation in Lebanon in light of the cyberattack that resulted in the disruption of communication devices in several Lebanese areas.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that Minister Abdel Aati conveyed the directives of the President of the Republic to quickly communicate with our brothers in Lebanon in order to express Egypt’s full support for Lebanon, and to affirm Egypt’s commitment to the security and stability of Lebanon and the non-violation of its sovereignty by any external party, as well as to offer any possible support to our brothers in Lebanon during this critical time.

He pointed out that Minister Abdel Aati renewed during the two calls the warning about the dangers of regional escalation in the area and the risk of slipping into a comprehensive regional war, emphasizing that the serious and rapid developments taking place in the southern Lebanon region are a clear indication that the area is facing a dangerous turning point due to irresponsible and reckless unilateral actions, which will have repercussions that will cast a shadow over the stability of the entire region.

Foreign Minister Abdel Aati emphasized the utmost importance of preventing escalation, which can be achieved through an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, halting Israeli assaults in the West Bank, and swiftly reaching an agreement that ensures the release of prisoners and the full and unconditional access to humanitarian and medical aid for the region.
