Egypt has denied Israeli media reports alleging that Cairo was informed in advance of the recent attack on Iran, reaffirming its position that regional crises should be resolved through diplomacy.
A senior Egyptian source dismissed the claims as “completely baseless,” according to remarks carried by Al Qahera News. The source said reports suggesting Israel had notified Egypt of its plans 48 hours before the strike were inaccurate.
The official reiterated Egypt’s consistent stance calling for political and diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts, noting that Cairo has maintained this position since the start of the current escalation.
The denial comes after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale joint military operation against Iran early Saturday following weeks of mounting tensions and military buildup in the Middle East.
The Pentagon has referred to the American component of the campaign as Operation Epic Fury. Iranian authorities responded by launching waves of missiles toward Israel and announcing the start of Operation True Promise 4, alongside strikes that also targeted US assets and locations across several Arab states.
The rapidly intensifying confrontation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, with Egypt repeatedly urging restraint and renewed diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
