Egypt Daily News – Egypt’s national men’s handball team lost against Denmark 30-27 in their second meeting during the group stage of the Paris Olympics. Under the guidance of Spanish coach Juan Carlos Pastor, the match saw Denmark dominating the first half, ending with a score of 19-9. However, the national team made a strong effort to close the gap in the second half.
Looking ahead, the team is set to play against the host nation, France, in the third round on Wednesday, while Denmark will compete against Argentina. In their opening match, the national team secured a win against Hungary with a score of 35-32, while Denmark triumphed over France 37-29.
The handball squad for the Olympics consists of 17 players, including 14 main players and 3 reserves: Ibrahim Al-Masry, Yahya Khaled, Abdul Rahman Faisal, Mohamed Tariq, Yahya Al-Daraa, Saif Al-Daraa, Mohab Saeed, Ahmed Hisham Al-Sayed Dodo, Ahmed Adel, Karim Hindawi, Ali Zein, Mohamed Sanad, Mohamed Ali, and Omar Al-Wakil Bakkar, alongside reserve players Khaled Walid, Mohamed Al-Tayyar, and Akram Yousry.
To progress to the quarter-finals, which follow a knockout format, the team aims to secure one of the top four spots in their group. This marks the eighth appearance of the handball team in the Olympic Games, with the previous seven participations including the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
