The Egyptian government has officially announced new increases in fuel and energy prices, citing exceptional conditions in global energy markets and mounting pressures linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Under the new pricing structure, which took effect on Tuesday, the price of several petroleum products and compressed natural gas used to power vehicles has been adjusted.

The price of 95-octane gasoline rose from 21 Egyptian pounds to 24 pounds per liter.
92-octane gasoline increased from 19.25 pounds to 22.25 pounds per liter.
80-octane gasoline climbed from 17.75 pounds to 20.75 pounds per liter.

Diesel fuel, widely used for transportation and industry, increased from 17.5 pounds to 20.5 pounds per liter.

The government also raised the price of household liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. The price of a 12.5-kilogram butane cylinder rose from 225 pounds to 275 pounds, while the larger 25-kilogram cylinder increased from 450 pounds to 550 pounds.

Compressed natural gas used for vehicle fueling also saw a price adjustment, rising from 10 pounds to 13 pounds per cubic meter.

Officials said the decision was taken in response to exceptional circumstances affecting international energy markets, particularly following escalating geopolitical developments in the Middle East that have sharply impacted global supply chains and oil prices.

According to the government statement, disruptions in energy supply routes, increased geopolitical risk, and rising maritime shipping and insurance costs have contributed to a significant surge in global crude oil and petroleum product prices. These levels, officials said, have not been seen in global energy markets for several years.

The government added that higher international prices have directly increased both import costs and domestic production expenses, placing additional pressure on the state’s energy budget.

In response to these challenges, Egyptian authorities said they are continuing efforts to boost domestic oil and gas production by accelerating exploration and development projects. The government is also encouraging international energy partners operating in Egypt to expand their activities in order to increase local output and reduce reliance on imports.

Officials emphasized that the government is closely monitoring global energy market developments and domestic cost structures in order to maintain stable supplies of petroleum products and natural gas for citizens and all sectors of the economy.

The statement concluded that the exceptional measures are part of what authorities described as a responsible approach to managing global economic pressures while prioritizing energy security and stability in the domestic market.
