Egypt Daily News – The Egyptian Cabinet expressed its deep concern regarding the ongoing developments in Lebanon, pointing to Egypt’s full solidarity with the Lebanese government and brotherly people during this delicate time, and making every effort to maintain Lebanon’s stability, unity, and sovereignty.
This came during the Egyptian Cabinet meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, to discuss the latest developments in the region, particularly the situation in Lebanon.
The Cabinet also confirmed in a press statement on its official Facebook page the full seriousness of the unilateral escalation steps by Israel, which could lead the region to more dangerous developments, potentially resulting in a comprehensive regional war that would disrupt the stability of the entire region and cast negative shadows on the security of the whole region, a warning that Egypt has repeatedly issued.
The Cabinet continued: “Perhaps the escalation of events yesterday signals a dangerous turning point, and underscores the necessity for international community intervention and active forces to work towards an immediate ceasefire, in order to save lives and preserve the security and resources of the region.”
The Cabinet emphasized Egypt’s condemnation of the dangerous Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon, affirming Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to impose a new situation on the ground that affects Lebanese sovereignty.
The council demanded the immediate cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, considering that this is the fundamental factor that will lead to de-escalation and the establishment of calm.
