Egypt Daily News – During the promotional presentation of the first edition of the Egypt Air and Space Exhibition, which will take place from September 3 to 5, the Egyptian Armed Forces revealed the “MiG-29” fighter and its powerful munitions.
The fighter appeared with two short-range thermal air combat missiles, R-73, guided by infrared rays and a pilot’s helmet, with a range of more than 30 km, and two long-range air combat missiles of the type R-77SD, guided by radar, with a range of up to 120 km and a speed of Mach 4.5.
The Egyptian army also revealed that the fighter is armed with Kh-35UE tactical missiles against ships and land targets, which have a range of up to 260 km and are guided by a radar seeker, satellite navigation, and a 145-kg warhead.
Egypt previously used Kh-35UE missiles to strike land and sea targets with extreme accuracy.
The MiG-29M/M2 fighters are characterized as multi-mission air dominance fighters that can become the spearhead of any air attack.
It is also distinguished by its efficiency in carrying out tasks to protect other fighters while they advance, in addition to its ability to strike ground targets at a distance ranging from 400 to 600 kilometers.
The Mig 29 is known by its great strength and maneuverability, and it can be refueled in the air, whether Russian or non-Russian, which gives it a major advantage that doubles its range.
The MiG-29M/M2 fighters are designed to be able to defeat all air targets and destroy fixed and moving ground targets using guided and unguided weapons.
