Egyptian Meteorological Authority has issued a major weather alert ahead of expected unstable conditions, warning that thunderstorms and associated hazards could impact multiple areas across the country.

In an official statement, the authority said that thunderclouds are likely to generate strong downdraft winds, which may cause sudden and significant reductions in visibility, particularly in open and exposed areas.

The warning also highlighted the risk of lightning strikes and the possibility of hail in some regions, along with the accumulation of rainwater in low-lying streets, potentially leading to localized flooding and traffic disruptions.

Authorities urged residents to take precautionary measures, including avoiding standing under trees, billboards, or near unstable structures during periods of strong winds.

The weather system is also expected to bring a noticeable drop in temperatures. There is a possibility of snowfall overnight on higher elevations in South Sinai, a relatively rare occurrence linked to intense cold conditions.

Officials stressed the importance of following official weather updates and bulletins and taking necessary precautions to reduce potential risks associated with the severe weather.
