The President highlighted the increasing momentum in bilateral relations, particularly following the elevation of ties to a strategic partnership in February 2023. He noted that cooperation between the two nations has expanded across a wide range of sectors, including energy, railway carriages, telecommunications, and education.
Prime Minister Orbán expressed his deep appreciation to President El-Sisi and affirmed the strength and depth of relations between the two countries. He voiced his pleasure at visiting Egypt for the second time in less than a month, having attended the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on October 13, 2025. The Hungarian leader emphasized his government’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Egypt and extended an invitation to President El-Sisi to visit Hungary officially in 2026.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the discussions also reaffirmed the importance of Egyptian-European relations, particularly following the first Egypt–European Union summit recently held in Brussels. President El-Sisi praised the growing level of economic collaboration and political coordination between Egypt and EU member states, noting the broad alignment of views on numerous regional and international issues of mutual concern.
These included the situation in the Gaza Strip and the implementation of a ceasefire agreement, ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict in Sudan, and cooperation to combat illegal migration, among other vital topics.
In this context, President El-Sisi commended Hungary’s consistent support for Egypt’s positions within European Union institutions. Prime Minister Orbán, in turn, lauded Egypt’s crucial role in curbing illegal migration and its broader contributions to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa. He also acknowledged Egypt’s humanitarian role in hosting around ten million refugees and displaced persons from conflict zones.
The meeting further addressed developments in the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Prime Minister Orbán shared his perspective on ongoing international efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s balanced and distinctive relations with both Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing Cairo’s firm stance in favor of dialogue and a political resolution that ends the war and restores sustainable peace and stability.
The encounter between President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Orbán reflected the shared determination of Egypt and Hungary to deepen their strategic cooperation and to continue coordinating on key regional and global issues in pursuit of stability, development, and mutual prosperity.
