EgyptAir has announced the suspension of all flights from Cairo to 11 regional destinations “until further notice,” citing escalating security tensions across parts of the Middle East.

The affected routes include major cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Beirut, Doha, Amman, Dammam, Bahrain, Baghdad, Erbil, and Kuwait.

The airline said the decision was driven by ongoing instability in the region and concerns over the safety of airspace in several neighboring countries.

Disruption Across Key Regional Hubs

The suspension impacts some of the busiest travel corridors connecting Egypt with the Gulf and Levant, regions that typically see strong passenger demand for business, tourism, and labor travel.

The move reflects broader aviation disruptions in the region as geopolitical tensions continue to affect flight operations, rerouting, and scheduling across multiple carriers.

Flexible Rebooking and Refund Options

To ease the impact on passengers, EgyptAir introduced flexible measures for affected bookings.

Tickets impacted by cancellations between 28 February and 20 April 2026 can be adjusted under several options, including:

  • Rebooking to the same destination or alternative destinations within the Gulf and Middle East on EgyptAir flights until 20 May
  • Changing travel routes to destinations outside the region without penalty fees
  • Full refunds or conversion of tickets into electronic credit for future use
  • Adjustments for group bookings to future travel dates
  • Modifications of unaffected flights according to fare conditions, with any fare difference applied

Aviation Sector Faces Continued Uncertainty

The airline’s decision underscores the continued pressure on regional aviation networks as instability in parts of the Middle East affects airspace safety and flight planning.

Airlines across the region have increasingly adjusted routes and schedules in response to evolving security assessments, highlighting the broader impact of geopolitical tensions on commercial air travel.
