Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, visited the Egyptian Consulate General in New York on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the visit, the minister inspected the Egyptian artifacts that were recently recovered, which the Egyptian consulate in New York successfully retrieved in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, and the Egyptian Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The collection included several important pieces dating back to ancient Pharaonic times and the Ptolemaic era, among which were a gilded wooden mask, a foot made of red granite, an Egyptian vase made of alabaster, and others.
The Foreign Minister quickly directed the completion of all necessary procedures for shipping the antiquities to Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the relevant authorities in the country.
The minister emphasized the importance that Egypt places on the issue of recovering stolen Egyptian artifacts and their return to the homeland, praising the diligent efforts made by Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the office of the Egyptian Public Prosecutor, and relevant state agencies to recover Egyptian artifacts in order to preserve the country’s treasures.
