Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received today a call from Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs. This dialogue was part of ongoing consultations aimed at discussing recent developments in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, as well as efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that the French Foreign Minister provided insights from his recent regional tour, which focused on the political and humanitarian situation in Lebanon and the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
This coordination highlights the strong relations between Egypt and France, reflecting a shared commitment to achieving peace and stability.
During their discussion, the two ministers addressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid amidst the worsening humanitarian conditions.
Minister Abdel Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s strong condemnation of Israeli actions that obstruct humanitarian aid delivery and impede the work of UNRWA. He stressed the importance of empowering the Palestinian Authority to facilitate humanitarian efforts.
Furthermore, the conversation encompassed the necessity for international actions to secure a ceasefire in Lebanon, implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and offer comprehensive humanitarian support.
Minister Abdel Aati shared Egypt’s initiatives to resolve the presidential vacancy crisis in Lebanon, advocating for a president to be elected through Lebanese consensus, free from external pressures, while also emphasizing the need to bolster Lebanese state institutions, particularly the military.
He also denounced the Israeli army’s attacks on UNIFIL forces, describing these actions as violations of Lebanese sovereignty and international law.
