Egypt Daily News – Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Higher Education, commented on the results of the ministry’s meeting with the Supreme Council of Private Universities and the representative of academic affairs at the American University, regarding the problem of students enrolled in Egyptian universities on scholarships from the US Aid program after the decision to suspend all agency’s programs for a period 90 days.
Abdel Ghaffar said: “With numbers and statistics, the vast majority of these students in the bachelor’s degree, where they include public, private and private universities and the American University, there are a total of 1077 students, distributed by 877 students in public, private and private universities, with comprehensive scholarships for study and residence, in addition to 200 A student at the American University. ”
He added: “We have a very limited number of master’s students in American universities, not exceeding 7 students, and we closely follow their conditions in their universities, with the Ministry providing all forms of support necessary for them.”
“Abdel Ghaffar” explained that today’s meeting, which was held headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and with the participation of the Supreme Council of Universities, was preceded by intensive communication with the heads of public universities The eligibility and private separately, in addition to the participation of the Undersecretary of Academic Affairs at the American University.
Abdel Ghaffar denied what social media circulated about the American University’s administration to remove students from their places of residence for 90 days, saying: “Social media is not a reliable source of information. Today, the Undersecretary of Academic Affairs at the American University participated in the meeting, and stressed that the university continues to support its students.
He pointed out that with regard to the rest of the universities, whether governmental, eligible or private, no student who studies within the grants will be affected. He stressed that the universities will ensure the full scholarship, whether at the level of study or residence expenses, stressing that the “position management group” has moved quickly in cooperation with the various state agencies to reassure students and their families.
Abdul Ghaffar added: “Communication was directly with public university presidents, and each university has pledged to bear the full costs of the scholarship provided to students, whether for study or housing. As for the American University, it confirmed at the meeting its full commitment to continue to study the students enrolled in it.
