Madbouly at Ramses

Egypt Daily News – On Wednesday morning, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the Ramses Central Exchange building in downtown Cairo to inspect the damage caused by the recent fire and review ongoing efforts to restore digital and communication services. He was accompanied by Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat.

During the visit, Dr. Talaat presented a detailed report on the current status of repair and maintenance work. He confirmed that emergency teams from Telecom Egypt had successfully restored partial service to a large number of users within 48 hours of the incident. This was achieved through rerouting connections and reconnecting cables using alternative networks.

The minister noted that full service restoration is expected within days, based on a carefully structured timeline. He added that technical losses remain under control and that the fire did not reach data centers or critical infrastructure supporting fixed internet services.

Prime Minister Madbouly stressed the strategic importance of the building to the country’s communications infrastructure and urged a swift completion of repair, restoration, and safety reinforcement efforts. He also called for a thorough technical report on the fire’s cause, along with a future protection plan to prevent similar incidents.

Madbouly emphasized the need to maintain the digital readiness of key institutions and to strengthen safety protocols at all government sites housing critical technological systems.

The government, he affirmed, is closely monitoring every technical and administrative step to ensure uninterrupted service for citizens and will hold accountable any parties found negligent once investigations are concluded.
