Egyptian-Russian talks on Gaza, bilateral relations, and joint strategic projects

Egypt Daily News – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty held bilateral talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Russian President to the Middle East and African countries, Mikhail Bogdanov, focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a statement published on its official social media page on Friday. According to the statement, the talks between Abdel Aaty and Bogdanov addressed bilateral relations between the two countries, Egypt’s efforts to resume the ceasefire in Gaza, and the urgent need for immediate access of humanitarian aid into the Strip.

The discussions also covered the Arab plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, as well as a firm rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land. Both sides emphasized the importance of reaching a just and lasting political solution to the Palestinian issue.

The two parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to further advancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, particularly in the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant project and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, in addition to the tourism sector.

They also noted that Egypt and Russia hold aligned positions regarding recent developments in Libya, stressing the importance of maintaining security and stability across Libyan territory, safeguarding the country’s resources and national institutions, and respecting Libya’s unity and territorial integrity.

The talks also included an exchange of views on the latest developments in Syria and Sudan.
