Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Wednesday morning with the Minister of Defense and a number of army commanders to discuss developments and conditions in the region.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency, President Sisi met with a number of leaders of the armed forces, at the headquarters of the Strategic Command in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, Minister of Defense, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff.
Highest rates of combat efficiency
The official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed developments in the situation on the regional and international arenas and their repercussions on security and stability in the Middle East region.
He said that President Sisi praised the efforts made by the armed forces to protect the Egyptian borders from any potential threats and stressed that the successive events and turbulent conditions taking place in the region confirm that our choice for a just and sustainable peace requires continuing to build the capabilities of the comprehensive forces to preserve and protect the homeland, while continuing the comprehensive development efforts of the state to achieve the aspirations of the Egyptians.
The meeting also discussed the efforts of the armed forces to secure all strategic directions of the state, and the extent of their readiness to carry out the tasks entrusted to them.
Securing all strategic directions
It is noteworthy that Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff, had inspected a few days ago members of the armed forces stationed east of the canal, to check on the extent of the forces’ training and administrative readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them.
The Chief of Staff stressed that the Army Command has set its sights on achieving the highest rates of combat efficiency in various specialties, calling for maintaining the highest levels of vigilance and attention in security procedures.
