Egypt’s Foreign Minister stresses the necessity and speed of reaching an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza

Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Wednesday to discuss key regional developments.

According to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Ministry, the discussion focused on addressing the escalating situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing efforts toward establishing a ceasefire.

Dr. Abdel Aty emphasized the urgency of achieving an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring full access to humanitarian aid, and actively participating in mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

He stated that genuine political will is essential for successful ceasefire negotiations in order to deescalate tensions in the region.

The call also addressed the situation in Sudan, especially in light of recent Geneva meetings. Dr. Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt’s support for efforts aimed at a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and protect their lives and property.

Secretary Blinken expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in promoting security and stability in the region.

The conversation concluded with both ministers discussing various bilateral issues, underscoring the importance of their strategic relationship and agreeing to maintain ongoing consultations and coordination in the future.
