Egypt Daily News – On Wednesday, following the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh and Fouad Shukr, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning what it termed Israel’s “policy of escalation.”
The ministry expressed serious concerns about the implications of such actions, emphasizing that the policy of assassinations and violations of national sovereignty could lead to heightened tensions and confrontations in the region, with potentially grave security repercussions.
The statement highlighted the urgency for the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council and influential global powers, to intervene and curtail this dangerous trend of escalation in the Middle East.
Egypt called for actions that would prevent the situation from deteriorating further and criticized the lack of progress in ceasefire negotiations regarding Gaza, suggesting that this stagnation reflects a deficiency in Israel’s political will to pursue peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, Egypt reiterated its commitment to the humanitarian concerns arising from the conflict, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to reinvigorate diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the ongoing war in Gaza.
